Why Restaurants Should Go Green

photoBurlingame, Ca – July 20, 2009 – The restaurant industry is one accustom to wastefulness. Styrofoam, plastic, and immense amounts of trash have been part of their operating systems for years. But this is the 21st century, and people are beginning to realize that its time to start taking care of our planet. So, slowly but surely, the industry with a big carbon footprint is making a turn for the greener.

There are many ways to go about going green. Cutting down on water and electricity use is very simple and it doesn’t cost a thing. In fact, it saves money. Another thing that is fairly simple is to separate the recycling into three different categories: cardboard, glass, and cans. It is important to separate them because they are recycled differently and some recycling centers don’t separate them properly. Another way to go green isn’t just about the restaurants though, it’s also about the customers. Styrofoam to-go containers have ruled the industry and polluted our planet for as long as most of us can remember, but there are now other options!

Why Recycle??

Woodland, Ca – July 13, 2009 – Recycling has always been something we’ve been told to do.  However, a lot of us are lazy about it; only recycling when convenient, even if it really wouldn’t be that hard to just throw those bottles and cans in the bin.  We now have recycling containers that are collected along with our trash containers. Most towns and cities have at least one or two recycling centers. And still, our laziness prevails.

We know that our landfills are overflowing.  We know that our oceans are getting more and more polluted.  We know that unless recycled, some things will just sit for years and years dirtying our earth and harming our planet.  We know all of this and still, we don’t recycle.  We say we love our planet, and we say that we want to preserve it, but when push comes to shove, we do nothing because it’s too much of an inconvenience.

PrimeWare Owner Featured on QSRWeb

Woodland, CA – May 27, 2009 – On May 20th, just following this year’s National Restaurant Show, a video of PrimeWare owner Kurt Koch was featured on the website for QSRWeb.  The video features Kurt talking about PrimeWare’s new line of hinged-lid containers lined with PLA (polylactic acid), which were debuted at the NRA Show.

The addition of PLA lining to PrimeWare containers does not change any of their Eco-Friendly properties. PLA-lined containers provide a superior moisture and grease barrier for hot foods. The eco-friendly and compostable PLA lining virtually eliminates all the moisture issues previously associated with very hot foods and bagasse containers. PrimeWare is the first and only company to have PLA-lined hinged-lid containers.
