Woodland, Ca – July 13, 2009 – Recycling has always been something we’ve been told to do.  However, a lot of us are lazy about it; only recycling when convenient, even if it really wouldn’t be that hard to just throw those bottles and cans in the bin.  We now have recycling containers that are collected along with our trash containers. Most towns and cities have at least one or two recycling centers. And still, our laziness prevails.

We know that our landfills are overflowing.  We know that our oceans are getting more and more polluted.  We know that unless recycled, some things will just sit for years and years dirtying our earth and harming our planet.  We know all of this and still, we don’t recycle.  We say we love our planet, and we say that we want to preserve it, but when push comes to shove, we do nothing because it’s too much of an inconvenience.

An alternative to recycling is composting.  Composting is the new recycling.  It is an easy, eco-friendly way to dispose of trash without harming the environment. The "composting and biodegrading" process takes only a few months with normal composting and introduces no toxins into the environment. There are about 5000 composting facilities across the United States. While about half of them are run by cities and handle mainly leaves and yard waste, the other half can handle nearly all compostable materials. Find a composting facility near you.

PrimeWare’s line of disposable tableware is both compostable and biodegradable. The line includes plates, platters, bowls, trays, hinged-lid containers and cup carriers. PrimeWare’s products are made from bagasse, which is a byproduct of the sugarcane refining process. Bagasse used to be burned, which was harmful to the environment. It is now used in an eco-friendly fashion, making it easy on your conscience and your environment!

Humans are using up natural resources faster than nature can replenish them, and creating waste faster than the earth can reclaim it. According to Planet Green, recycling and composting efforts prevent 64 million tons of material from going to landfill or incineration each year. Thanks to “green thinking” consumers and manufacturers like PrimeWare, biodegradable and compostable products are helping our environment.
